Freestanding lace can be used as individual pieces eg. embellishments, bookmarks, towel toppers etc or sewn together to create a vast variety of items eg. tissue box covers, food domes, bowls, doilies etc. To create freestanding lace, simply choose a design specifically designed as "freestanding lace" and stitch directly onto water-soluble stabilizer. The stitches overlap and support each other in such a way that when the water-soluble stabilizer is dissolved, a beautiful piece of lace remains.
