Tutorial for "Lace Clutch Purse"

What you need:

* Your 4 x 4 or 6 x 10 hoop.

* 2 Layers water-soluble stabilizer.

* Fabric (silk, satin, whatever you choose)

Hooping:

Notice that layer 1 is hooped laying "across" the hoop.

Then layer 2 is hooped perpendicular to layer 1.

This prevents any movement while stitching your designs and ensure a perfect finish.

Notice the nice "thick" look. (I used a layer of batting - optional)

* Appliqué embroidery for front and rear panels:

- First straight stitching indicates appliqué position,

- Second straight stitching stitches the batting and silk simultaneously.

Tip: To avoid your design pulling away from your final satin outline when working with appliqué embroidery, do not cut away the excess fabric before the final underlay is stitched. (This is just before your last satin outline.)

* Finished front and rear panels in applique embroidery.

Freestanding Lace Flap:

This design must be stitched on 2 layers of water-soluble stabilizer.

- First straight stitching indicates appliqué position.

- Second straight stitching stitches one layer of silk to water-soluble stabiliser.

 IMPORTANT: Only cut excess fabric to the front. The fabric to the back will be used to sew the flap to the back panel and ensure a tidy end-product

- Finish embroidering design which will now stitch only on the water-soluble stabiliser.

- When design is finished, remove from hoop, cut away excess stabilizer and wash only the flap in luke warm water.

TIP: I soak my freestanding lace design in fabric softner for complete managebility.

Assemble:

Place flap panel with excess fabric facing rightside up. Place back panel also facing right side up

- With a straight stitch stitch flap to back panel

- Fold side excess fabric doubble and secure with straight stitching

-Your back panel and flap complete

- Place front and rear panels, wrong sides together (facing inside)

- Stitch front and rear panels together with a straight stitch "in the ditch my mother tought me...lol"

- Your clutch purse is finished and ready for optional trimming

- I used a tiny pearl as a button hand sewn to the center of the little flower on the design. Play around and be daring doing something unique

- Your finished 4*4 or 6*10 clutch purses ready for that special occasion or gift

- The 6*10 clutch purse

- The 4*4 clutch purse
