| Freestanding Lace Umbrella Fantasy |
| The basic umbrella was invented over four thousand years ago. We have seen evidence of umbrellas in the ancient art and artifacts of Egypt, Assyria, Greece, and China. These ancient umbrellas or parasols, were first designed to provide shade from the sun. The Chinese were the first to waterproof their umbrellas for use as rain protection. They waxed and lacquered their paper parasols in order to use them for rain. Now you can make little fsl Umbrellas and use them as decorations for your special events or special people. |
We have also included a full TUTORIAL on how to make these beautiful umbrellas. Look at bottom of page. |

We had fun using all the different panels, doing a mix-n-match. You have 2 different size umbrellas in this collection. You can then decided to stitch them in a single color or two-tone. We even added some lace to give it a Victorian look. |

Here we have the little umbrella with plain panels. Look at the little scallops and the fsl flower on the top. We added a wooden handle and covered it with ribbon. Ps. To know more just look at the tutorial at the bottom of the page. |

Here we have the little umbrella with the beautiful lace design on the panel. We decided to keep the panel simple and only use a different color for the design on the panel. That way it stands out. See full tutorial to change a coat hanger to an umbrella handle... |

Do you notice the little white umbrella? |
|
This is a close-up of the little white umbrella. To give it a genuine Victorian "feel" I added a little lace fringe. Any lace you have handy will do should you want to follow this example. |

Take a look at the inside of the umbrella. No unsightly thread at all. We attached the handle with glue. Ps. Just look at the tutorial at the bottom of the page. |

With the little white umbrella comes the big one. In this collection you also have the choice to use the panels plain or with the design embroidered on it. I added the little lace fringe to both of the umbrellas to make a "mother & daughter" pair of umbrellas. |

... and why not have fun with an unconventional color scheme? Here I used the plain panels of the large umbrella and stitched them out in multi colors. Now I have a fun umbrella for my "not-too-serious" mood. |
