Tutorial 25: Sew Simple Reversible Knot Bag

Use this pattern to try the techniques in this tutorial:
Sew Simple Reversible Knot Bag
This Project Consists of 4 Sections:
- Print & Prepare the pattern included in your Instant Download (steps 1 & 2)
- Cut your Fabric (steps 3 - 8)
- Embroider (Optional) (steps 9 – 12)
- Final Sewing (steps 13 – 30)

- Step 1: Print all the pages in the PDF named “SEWING”.

- Step 2: Once printed you will be able to see the guides and coordinates so the printed sheets can be laid out easily and accurately. Secure the panels with scotch tape.

- Step 3: Cut out the pattern. You`ll also need the fabric of choice and a contrast fabric.

- Step 4: Pin the pattern to the fabric and cut 2 of the plain fabric and 2 of the contrast fabric.

- Step 5: Simply cut along the edge as the pattern include a 1/4″seam allowance

- Step 6: Also cut 2 of the contrast fabric.

- Step 7: Your 4 fabric panels (2 x plain ; 2 x contrast)

- Step 8: Turn panels facing right sides to the inside

- Step 9: Mark the center of your panel to be embroidered
-
- Step 10: RECYCLING TIP – Dry left-over soap pieces. It works wonderfully to make markings on dark fabric and is easy to remove afterward.

- Step 11: Hoop the fabric. Move the needle to the center point markings to ensure your embroidery design is exactly where you would like it to be.

- Step 12: Embroider the design. A complete color chart is included in your download.

- Step 13: With the rights side facing each other (to the inside), using a 1/4″ seam allowance, pin then sew along the top of each handle and along the bottom curve. (make sure you sew all the way up to where panels 1 and 2 meet, as well as where panels 4 and 5 meet. The length of panel 1 will form the “armhole” of the long handle and the length of panel 5 will form the “armhole” of the short handle)

- Step 14: Close up of sewn bottom curve

- Step 15: Close up of sewn handle (long)

- Step 16: Close up of sewn handle (short)

- Step 17: Do the same with the contrast fabric. Sew along the bottom curve and on top of each handle

- Step 17: Do the same with the contrast fabric. (make sure you sew all the way up to where panels 1 and 2 meet, as well as where panels 4 and 5 meet. The length of panel 1 will form the “armhole” of the long handle and the length of panel 5 will form the “armhole” of the short handle)

- Step 18: Sew along the bottom curve

- Step 19: Sew along the top edge of the short handle

- Step 20: Sew along the top edge of the long handle

- Step 21: Turn the contrast fabric inside out

- Step 22: From the side, Insert the contrast panels inside the plain panel

- Step 23: Close up of what it looks like now.

- Step 24: Line up the seams along the “neckline” and pin.

- Step 25: Close up look

- Step 26: Sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance along the neckline of the bag.

- Step 27: Fold the raw edges of the “armholes” in a 1/4″ and pin. Press and baste together. Topstitch all along the “armholes” and along the “neckline”

- Step 28: Close up look of the long handle.

- Step 29: Close up look of the short handle.

- Step 30: Once your Top Stitching is done your reversible Bag is complete!

- Step 31: Your Reversible Knot Bag

- Step 32: Insert the long handle through the hole in the short handle

- Step 33: See how beautifully the contrast fabric shows

- Step 34: Carry around your wrist. Remember you can enlarge the pattern to the size of bag you would like!

- Step 34: Reverse side looks just as neat. No raw edges showing!

- Step 35: Use a variety of contrast fabric to fit each one`s taste

Tutorial 24 : Snips n Bits Applique

This Project Consists of 4 Sections:
- Creating your Pattern: Steps 1-7
- Cut a crafty Fabric from the Pattern: Steps 8-12
- Follow the Color change Sheet: Steps 13
- Fabric will be secured in the next color stop: Steps 14-18

- Step1. Take any sheet of paper and place it in the hoop.

- Step 2. Stitch the 1st Color Stop

- Step 3. An outline will be stitched. Remove the hoop

- Step 4. Close-up look of the 1st Color stitched. Use the saame color as your base fabric.

- Step 5. Tear away the paper on the outside of the stitched area.
-
- Step 6. Remove the paper on the inside of the stitched area. This is your PATTERN
-
- Step 7. The PATTERN

- Step 8. Place the pattern on the fabric you`ll be using. Use fabric that does not fray eg Felt. Pin the pattern to the fabric.

- Step 9. Use general purpose scissors or zigzag scissors for a creative look.

- Step 10. Simply follow the curves of the pattern. If you cut the fabric a bit wider than the pattern it will still work fine.

- Step 11. Keep your crafty fabric ready. Your detailed instruction file (available in your download) will include a color change sheet and indicate when this fabric should be used.

- Step 12. Close-up look of the fabric we`ll be using just now.

- Step 13. Follow the color change sheet (available in your download) and stop when indicated to do so.

- Step 14. Use embroidery adhesive spray and place the piece of fabric to cover the outline stitched in color stop 1.

- Step 15. The adhesive spray will keep the fabric in place while stitching the next color stop.

- Step 16. Simply follow the color change sheet…

- Step 17. An outline and detail on the fabric will be completed.
